How did we go from Godzilla Karaoke down Sump Pump Karaoke?!!!

How did we go from Godzilla Karaoke down Sump Pump Karaoke?!!!

I suppose the three day early warning for flash floods that many of us received on our smartphones and PDA’s did the trick. I am sure that Homedepot and all the grocery stores of the DMV area made a ton of cash. As for me, what I had hoped to be awesome night on DuPont Circle, turned out to be an awesome night after all.

I arrived early to The Big Hunt to prep and to get the equipment and up and running on time and to iron out any kinks, noise distortions and nuisances. All the key players were on board, like AJ (Bartender- T-Pain or somebody), Gotta have the bartender.  And very thankful for Christine/Christina (Super Server). We cracked jokes and had a good convo before show time.  I quickly glanced over the crowd and saw that Dave and Shelly were there. So, it’s safe to say a few regulars were sprinkled about the place. To my surprise, we had two great groups to show up.

The first group I had passed by on the sidewalk. Not giving much thought that they would come to The Big Hunt, but secretly hoping that that would. Okay, confession.  I saw a cutie in the group.  I had just unloaded most items for the show and ran back to the car for another piece of equipment. Lo and behold, there they were like an ice cold 6 pack of Coronas sitting there in a booth.  Yeah, boyeeeeee! I kept working away and hoping that old cutie would see my plumbers butt as I ran and connected cables to equipment. Got on my knees to do this or that. Squatted down to do one thing or another.  Oh well, you get my meaning.  Burt, the ring leader of the 6 pack, approached me and said, “do you have blah, blah, blah.” I said, “of course I do.”  He went on to say, “put that down for Amanda.” Now mind you I didn’t know Burt was truly with the group until my eyes followed him back to the booth. Man, did I get happy (Pharrell, where are you?)!  By my second Corona (no kidding), I got the courage to be a little frisky so throughout the show I would walk up on cutie and say, “Did you find a song ” (real sexy, right?).   I did that like 10 times. Anywho, I didn’t get the date but they were from Guatemala.

Now the show was in full swing and we had a good run of singers and repeat singers. Everybody appeared to be in a somber mood. The torrential down pour that began didn't help matters but it really  hurt too much. The crowd was always moderate in size throughout the night and we held on to what we had. Last night, I met Jackie. She had just moved to Washington, D.C. I met her friends and with the help of the Bartender (echo), I got them 3 fireball shots. Also, Shelly had just graduated and has a degree in something good (I’m sure  = 3 shots of fireball). A lot of little things just kept adding up to one big wonderful night.

Just when I felt the need for time to speed up (old man getting tired), the group from Las Vegas popped up literally out of nowhere. I looked around and there they were singing and drinking and snapping pictures. Woody and Tina did the singing mostly but the entire crew were as engaging and fun loving as could be. In my heart of hearts I wanted to fly off to Vegas with them. They tipped me generously for karaoke (which I smiled and beamed thinking of what bill to pay) and I said thank you. Let’s face it, when they nearly shove it down your throat, you might as well swallow (Heehehehee). They were nice and we did manage to make the best of a stormy night due the quiet yet fiery energy in the bar.

Thank you Amanda, Burt, Woody, Greta, Tina, The Stewart/Steward girls, Shelly, Dave, A friend of Shelly and Dave’s, Team Guatemala, and Team Vegas, Mike, Michael, Chris (2 guys that just popped in and sang), and to all that came out to party with us.

Thank you Thomas for checking the sound and making sure that I was okay.

Be One With The Lizard @ The Big Hunt @ 8:30 PM Tonight!

Karaoke In The News @ The Wonderland Ballroom 5.13.14 W/Godzilla

Update: Godzilla Singers Added
Why People Hate Karaoke - Until, they Come to One of My Karaoke Parties That Is!

Location: The Wonderland Ballroom 5.13.14

Last night’s party at The Wonderland Ballroom was mesmerizing. It was filled with fresh new faces and singers. Many more of the Boochie Ball Teams were there and so were many of the bar’s regulars. Well before 8PM, the Boochie ball crews started to trickle in. Now this is just my opinion but I think that many people just don’t understand what to expect when they come to karaoke. They have seen and heard so many bad (stiff, perfect, or just plain ole horrible) karaokes that my show would just would not offer or be any but a bit of the same.

Prior to each show, I mediate on good things for what I want to see and how I want my energy to flow. I invest a lot of energy into the crowd (into you) and I must say that at Wonderland, they give it back 100 fold. I try very hard (I said try) to deflect or defuse the negative energy. I focus on what joy and fun we can have that will make our world better that night and for the days to come. What I learned is if I give a little the one by one everyone will give and soon our cup is full and overflowing with good enery throughout the entire bar. It's beautiful! I love it! I love music! I love to see others doing it no matter what you sound like. Just let go and dive in! You'll see.

So you may sing off key, who really cares? Just have fun doing it! Sing for the fun of it. We don’t sing to compete or to gain prizes. We sing for the pure helluva it! We sing for the fun, the thrill, and the true social connection and interaction. The only thing digital about my karaoke is the music. So come in and put your Smart Phones and PDA’s away (or use them for lyrics to a song that I may not have) and have a good kick azz time. I tell you some days I wake sore from the night before all because we danced, sang, and danced some more. You can sing whatever you like with me at every karaoke party that I have especially at The Wonderland Ballroom.

A big shoutout to the following Godzilla Singers: Karimah, Marissa, Emily, Dina, Gwen, Beyonca, Bryan, Dave, Chrissy, Jason, Belise, Nickie, Sarah, Courtney, Noah, TB, Alex, Tommy, Tom, Javier, Xavier, Trish, Casey, Santana, Chaz, Cali Ali, Kelly, Malika, Leland, Shawn, Ole Skool n Crew, and all that attended last night’s party.
